Common Terms and Trigonometric language

* Trigonometry - the study of the connection between side lengths and angles in right-angle triangles (RAT). (from Greek trigōnon, "triangle" and metron, "measure")
* Theta (θ ) - In trigonometry this symbol is often used to indicate the required angle in the right angle triangle.
* Hypotenuse - The longest edge of a right angled triangle (opposite the 90 degree/ right angle of the triangle)
* Opposite - The opposite edge of the θ (required angle) on the triangle.
* Adjacent - The edge that is next to the θ (required angle)
* Ratio - Comparing one side length relative to another
